Originally from India, Nitya received her BFA from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts where she trained at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting. She is primarily a stage performer whose recent theatre credits include The Glorious Ones (Lincoln Center Theatre), Love’s Labor’s Lost (Shakespeare Theatre Company), Serendib (Ensemble Studio Theater), Cecilia’s Last Tea Party (Passage Theatre Company), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Flux Theatre Ensemble), NINJA: The Musical (Desipina & Co.), Monetizing Emma (Planet Connections Festival), Coney Island Avenue (New York Theatre Workshop)  Her screen work includes appearances in Split Ends  (Dir. Dorothy Lyman), Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps (Dir. Oliver Stone), Sita Sings The Blues (Dir. Nina Prod.). On TV, she has appeared in “The Good Wife” and is the most recent addition to PBS’ “Sesame Street” where she is ‘Leela,’ a regular in that famed neighborhood.
